Toevs - Regier wedding

The marriage of Miss Helen Toevs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Toevs of Parsons, to Mr. Cornelius Regier of Whitewater was beautifully solemnized Friday afternoon at four o'clock at the Mennonite Church on First Street. The Rev. A. Warkentin read the Mennonite marriage service.

The bridal couple approached the altar to the soft strains of Lohengrin's wedding march played by Miss Helen Albrecht at the piano and Miss Helen Bartsch at the organ. Immediately after they had taken their places, a quartet composed of Misses Esther Toevs and Helen Bartsch, G. R. Toevs and Paul Ensz, sang. Following the ceremony, Miss Esther Toevs sang "One Fleeting Hour."

The bride was attractive in a gown of white flat crepe with which she wore a veil fastened to her hair with sprays of myrtle.

Decorated with many flowers and plants, the church presented an ideal setting for the pretty wedding.

Following the wedding, a reception was held in the basement of the church, attended by two hundred guests. Later Mr. and Mrs. Regier left for their home on the bridegroom's farm near Whitewater.

Mrs. Regier has always lived in Newton except for one year which she spent with her parents in Parsons when they first moved to that place from Newton. For the last three years she has been an efficient member of the sales force at the J. C. Penney store, resigning that position recently. Mr. Regier, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Regier of Whitewater, is among the most prosperous farmers in this section.

Among the out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Toevs and daughters Ella and Margaret of Parson, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Regier of Whitewater, and W.W. Toevs of Wichita.
